"A Thing of Beauty" Episode 45

I'm a little behind, but some of you might want to discuss Carole McDonnell's latest story "A Thing of Beauty"

I read this story about three months before we produced it. When I came back to it I recalled it had much harsher content... and I suppose the content was harsh enough.

    Some questions:

    1. Why did Father James know his "sin" and yet continued in it?
    2. What caused him to lose his need for his "sin" to be fulfilled?
    3. Do you like "magical realism"? Especially when the "magical" conceit isn't explained?

This was a powerful story. I listened to it while walking to work one morning. I really enjoyed it.
I generally like the 'magic' to be explained, or at least speculated upon, but the idea of "God is giving me a second chance" seemed sufficient for this story.

    Thanks Adam!
I found this story incredibly challenging on a number of levels too!

I don't know that I found this one challenging, even though I really did enjoy it.
A guy I know loves the Cyrano deBergerac line where he says he'd rather be known by who his enemies are than his friends, and I guess it sank in a bit for me.

So, what I'm trying to say is that this one kind of just reinforced my own opinions, and I guess I should be challenged by that... don't want to be a jerk for the sake of pride, after all.
