    Father in Hospice

    Post  Drew.Rub on September 10th 2010, 7:08 am

I'd like to ask the Spiritblade communitiy for prayers of comfort for my father. He's spent the past few days in hospice care. He's dealing with terminal cancer. He may go home in a few days, or he may not. We're still not sure. He looks much better today than he did a few days ago, but that's always bound to change. Also pray for strength for my sister, brother and myself. We lost our mom just about 2 years ago from cancer as well, so the pain of that loss is still very close to us. We're not ready to deal with a second loss to the same thing.

I pray that the Lord will give you strength in your time of need. Is your father's destination sure?

    Prayer and praise

Oh yes, Dad's destination is secure. He's a former Methodist minister, and has had a close relationship with the Lord for longer than I've been alive. Very Happy Good news, dad is home from the hospice center for now. He was able to regain his strength and get the pain under control thanks to the doctor's changing up his meds. And of course, many more thanks to all the people praying for dad for the past few days. I know those helped him greatly.

Wow, I realized it's been a while since I updated this prayer request.

Dad went home to be with mom and our Father on Oct 15th, 2010. I would like to thank everyone for the prayers.

On a bonus note, I got engaged while I was with dad. The wedding is sometime later this year. Final date not set yet, but I'll update on that in another post.

Thanks for the update, Drew. I know you'll be missing your dad, so I'm really sorry to hear that. And yet what an amazing, unfathomable life he's just begun. In the presence of the God of the universe for four months now and just imagine the stories he could already tell us!

Congrats also on the engagement! Very exciting! Always love hearing about one of us geeks getting a happy ending! Woohoo!
