    Hank's/Cleireac's Sister In Failing Health

Post  Paeter on April 21st 2016, 8:56 am

As some of you may know, Hank Harwell's sister has advanced COPD and is deteriorating quickly. Hank and his family are now rushing to spend what they assume are her last moments with her this weekend. He shared this with those of us putting together the Council Of Geeks thing, so I felt it safe to share it here and ask for prayer on behalf of him and his family. In his e-mail he said:

"Please pray for our family. We grieve, but at the same rejoice in the confidence that death is not the end of the story."

    Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in providing an update, but it seems that much of what was presenting as my sister's rapid decline was an infection called C. Diff. When I got there, she had been in the hospital for at least 24 hours where they diagnosed the infection and began a treatment of antibiotics. She began to respond, and she has been home almost a week now, alert and lucid. There is even some talk about soon removing the tracheotomy tube she has had since the beginning of the year to assist her with her breathing.

She still has COPD; that has not gone away, and barring a miraculous intervention from God, it will be what she eventually passes away from. However, it is not as imminent as we first thought.

Thanks to all for your prayers. It was and is much appreciated!

Well, in a bittersweet sort of way, our prayers have been answered. My sister passed away on Saturday afternoon. It's bitter because we will mourn her earthly loss to the family, but it's sweet in that as I mentioned, our prayers have been answered: she is healed! She is breathing unencumbered for the first time in years and is becoming reacquainted with beloved family members who have gone on before.

Thank you for your prayers on her behalf. I now ask for continued prayers for the family.
