Geez, yer tellin me. I'm sure I'm statistically in the minority, but its the reason I don't really play mobile games or even some PC games like Hearthstone. I'd rather they charge me for the game so I know up front what the total cost of the experience will be.

The trick is to see it coming and just ignore it.
I play some sort of word game on my phone, and I can buy coins for hints... nah, I'll just try every letter combination until something works, thanks anyway. Or A booster for Farm Heroes? ...it isn't that fun to begin with, really.
But... I've spent over $200 on World of Tanks, which I have played for four years (five now?) pretty much to the exclusion of everything else. I think I've spent $10 or so on Steam in that same period. So... yeah, if I have an extra $7 I might buy some in game gold for WoT... and overall, I think I'm coming out okay.

I'm with you too. I've never contributed real money toward mobile or facebook games. I always try to play them without. If that becomes impossible (like with Star Trek Timelines) I just stop playing. I would have been prepared to buy Timelines for a modest fee, of course, but oh well.

    Not a fan either

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the microtransactions either, but i wonder if it's just due to me being an old skool gamer that got the complete package with a game when you bought it. I love that. Granted, I do like that they can fix broken games with updates and patches, and the new content is sometimes pretty nice. But I don't like feeling like they cut out levels of the actual game in order to release them later as "new DLC".

The latest Battlefront on the PS4 is an interesting example of this. We were so excited to see a new Star Wars Battlefront, as my wife and I played TONS of Battlefront via local co-op back on the xbox. However, when this new EA Battlefront came, the local co-op experience was terrible, as the majority of the game was online. But about 8 months later, they released an update that opened up a few local co-op areas to play - which we were really happy about. Wish they would open up more, but doesn't look like they'll do that before EA's Battlefront 2 comes out. Hopefully they'll have more couch co-op (full levels with bots) that you can play in the new version.

No Man's Sky is also a unique example as well. The game has added a lot of really nice content via updates since it came out - much improving the experience. And it's all been free (so far). So that's a plus too.

But the freemium games on ipod I generally stay away from.
