    Bible in a month

    Post  mikel.withers on February 14th 2017, 12:00 pm

So, I like audio books and podcasts, and I was looking for a good mp3 reading of the Bible.
I didn't find one I could download, so my wife found a couple on Audible.
One has Gary Sinise, Malcolm McDowell, Jason Alexander and others reading, and the other has Cuba Gooding Jr. Angela Basset, Blair Underwood, and Samuel L Jackson.
I mean: Malcom McDowell reading the Bible sounds intriguing, but sampling the audio... the backgrounds sound annoying.

Now, I'm pasty like uncooked pizza dough, but I'm going for the bla..er...other one.

It just sounds better. Not just the backgrounds, which sounded more background, but also doesn't appear to be read in a "Bible reading voice".

Anyway, the point is that both Old and New Testament taken as a whole is about 85 hours long.
That is about a month of my audio book time. (done at work)
I could "read" the entire Bible in a month. Forget a year-maybe go through it once a year...skipping Numbers and Leviticus maybe...
And then it struck me that Lent is coming up, and I never do anything for Lent, but I always think I should, and that I don't mind run-on sentences, and that I could give up my entertaining listening at work for Lent and listen to the Bible during that time this year, so I think that is going to be my goal.
Anyway, that is what was on my mind.

    Laughing

My wife recently grabbed the version from Audible read by David Suchet (the actor who has played Agatha Christie's Poirot for the last 20 or so years).
The Samual L. Jackson version suddenly makes ours seem kinda boring lol.

I listened to both samples. These would drive me nuts! I hope you reach your goal.

FYI: If you download the Bible app on iOS or Android you can get audio versions of the Bible for free!
