Wife And Son On Mission Trip

Post  Paeter on February 16th 2017, 9:22 am

Holly and Asher (our oldest, 9yrs) are leaving for a mission trip to Mexico early Friday morning and getting back Monday night. They will be part of a team from our church that goes down to build 3-5 small houses over a long weekend each year.

I really admire Holly for her drive to do this, and love that she's taking Asher. But it's in another country, doing work around saws hammers and nails. I have a wildly active imagination and a tendency to worry, so prayers for peace would be appreciated, as well as prayers for their safety and effectiveness in the ministry they are doing.

    Thanks!

Thank you! Just saw them off (at 4:45am) and can't get back to sleep(now 5:45). (Not worried, I just don't fall asleep easily.)

Looking forward to a special weekend with just me and our youngest.

    Thanks for your prayers guys!

They got home last night. The weather was reportedly the worst its ever been for this annual trip, blowing wildly the first day/night, requiring Holly and Asher to move to sleeping in the car the rest of the weekend instead of their tent. Day two it rained all day long, but by Yahweh's grace the cement they mixed was still able to dry under tarps for the work on day 3.

Despite dealing with stomach illness, hard labor and intense conditions, all 5 homes were built by the morning of day 4 and the team was able to come home on schedule.

Holly is wiped out and sleeping this morning, but feeling so thankful for numerous blessings throughout the weekend that only God could orchestrate.

And our oldest son Asher is pumped and ready to do it all again.

So proud of them both. Hugely admire my wife. I would have been a cry baby under those conditions, but she and everyone there reportedly just rolled with all the punches and things never got tense or irritable. And five families spent their first night in their new homes last night.

    Praise Yahweh!

Totally. I never had anything like that when I was his age, and I'm so hoping that he will develop a much greater capacity for selflessness and serving than I have. So grateful to my wife for initiating this with him.
