    Wife In Stressful Work

Post  Paeter on May 16th 2017, 12:05 pm

I'd appreciate your prayers for my wife, Holly. She is a work-at-home pharmacist for a mail order pharmacy and has been grateful for years to be out of retail work.
But in recent weeks her employers have trained all pharmacists for a new part of their job that involves taking incoming calls from patients and doctor's offices. These kinds of phone calls were a primary source of stress for Holly when she worked as a retail pharmacist and she now dreads that part of her shift each day.

The anxiety is bad enough for her that we are considering several strategies which could involve looking for another job for her or reducing her hours (which may or may not require me to take on a part time job that will cut into my SB and CGC work). We're also hopeful and praying for the Holy Spirit to change something in Holly that will allow her to handle phone work without anxiety.

So we'd value prayer for changed circumstances or strengthened and transformed hearts, and an openness to what God wants to do in our circumstances or in us.

    Thanks.

Will be praying for Holly and all the anxiety that comes with calls like that - as well as the stress of possibly looking for new work/different hours. Praying for your family as whole too during this season.

    Personal interaction is the worst.
    No, seriously, that wasn't sarcasm.
I'll definitely pray for you guys.

Yeah, she's an introvert as well. And it doesn't help that in retail patients and Doctor's offices could become very irritated (with Holly) about things outside Holly's control (such as the patient's insurance policies, etc.).

Given the company's history, there is a chance employees could "swap" shifts with each other in the future, especially if they get the right feedback when employees review the company in September. So it's unlikely we'll make any big changes to our lives in the near future. For now the main thing is Holly's endurance.

    Thanks for your prayers.

Praying customers always get a busy signal.

You're praying that customers will always get a busy signal? Or is this a proverb about how customers who pray always get one?

Brain was disengaged when I responded. Must have been "Inside Paeter's Brain" a little too much. Wink

Like most of us, I can identify.

My primary job is to write code, but I also need to provide technical support to clients using our software. Seriously, my heart rate spikes whenever that stupid phone rings.

Praying God will strengthen Holly, and for guidance for the two of you as you consider the best path moving forward.

Well, either way, if customers are all getting busy signals then Holly won't have to talk to them! lol! (Of the two I think she'd prefer someone in a doctor's office over a customer.)
