    Problem With Flash Navigation Links?

    Post  Paeter on December 8th 2011, 1:29 pm

    Hey Folks,

    I'm wondering if you (yes you) could do me a quick favor and jump to the main website, spiritblade.net, and click on any one of the navigation links that run across the top. (Contact, Answers, Operations, Projects, Media, Portal)

    Lately they haven't been responding for me, outside of "beeping" and blinking when I pass over them. I'm running into the problem on two different OSes and on both Firefox and IE.

    If you have the same problem, and would be willing to tell me your OS, browser and current version of your browser (8.0.8, etc.), it would be a great help to my tech guy and I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks!

    -Paeter

    I get the same response as you from the nav bar at the top of spiritblade.net I've used the following:

    Windows 7, Flash 10
    -Firefox 4
    -IE 8
    -Google Chrome 5

    The audio player autostarts just fine in Firefox and Chrome, and I can control the trailer playback without problems.

    No Flash objects at all work in IE (nav bar and player do not even render), and the display is decidedly off-kilter - like the HTML is not being rendered correctly - oh wait, that's not a bug, it's a feature of the app.

    I've also tried my iPod touch and Android tablet, Apple OS and Android (not 3.0) does not support Flash but I was being thorough.

    I have no help to give. The only Flash objects I use are media players, and those are developed by others. Good luck!

    I have no trouble.

    * WinXP
    * Flash 11
    * Firefox 8.0
    * IE 8

    If I can remember, I'll try it on my home computer.

    One of the designers for the site looked into the issue.

    He did some searching on the internet and the only thing he could find is that people said it was a problem with the flash player plugin with the browser.

    Most people had to either mess with the browser preference to fix or reinstall the flash player plugin.

    Here's a page on Adobe's site he found for support-
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html

    Please let me know if the issue continues after checking out the support page. Eventually I will probably have my "tech guys" update the navigation to not be in flash, though with two new projects in production I don't have the money for it in the foreseeable future. Still, if the problem is frustrating people, I may consider a "kickstarter" fundraising event or something similar to make it happen sooner, so feedback on what you're experiencing is still valuable to me going forward from here.

    Thanks again, everyone, for your feedback.
