    A few different requests

Post  tmorrill on April 22nd 2012, 9:09 am

I've got a couple that are inter-related. Basically it's that time where I have to PCS (permanent change of station) from here in Korea to Great Falls, Montana in 18 days.

Before I leave though I need to pass a PT (physical training, a 1.5 mile run and a minute of push-ups/sit-ups) test I just failed (by one point) last Tuesday. By the end of this week I need to pass a mock test that'll allow me to retest early before I leave. Otherwise my yearly review will end up being a referral (bad, potential career ending stuff).

I'm not asking y'all to pray that I'll pass the test though or that my move goes smoothly, I'm askin' you to pray that regardless of how the test turns out I'll continue to rest in Him knowing that His will is being done.

Along with that one there's a girl I've met here that I'm slighty interested in but she's not a Christian, but has gone to the chapel with me here a few times and I bought her a Bible. If y'all could pray that her heart quickens to His calling I'd greatly appreciate it.

Absolutely man. That's a great perspective to have on your test . . . but I'll also be praying that you pass as well!

So, if your changing stations, how is it permanent? Does it mean that you won't ever be required to leave Great Falls?

As for the prayer requests, you bet we can pray for those things.

What it means aside from TDYs (essentially trips that range from anywhere for a couple days to a year or more) I'll be assigned to that unit in Great Falls until I get orders to another base, but that won't happen until I've been on station for a while. So not "permanent" in a real America kinda sense, but real in an Air Force kinda sense. The Air Force can be freakin' weird sometimes.

Also, I appreciate it. I'm talkin' a mock test tomorrow so I'll let y'all know how that goes.

Well, just an update since I forgot to update you after the inital post...

After praying and thinking it over the weekend I decided to not retest before I leave Korea.

I took a mock test and passed the test, but it was so close to the edge I decided to go to Montana as a SSgt with a 4 EPR (technically an above average" rating, but I digress into more details than really need to be given) rather thanriskgoing to Montana as an SrA with a 3 EPR (technically average, but you only get a 3 if you do something wrong), which is what would of happened if I took a retest and failed. My leadership was incredibly flexible and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that didn't happen, unfortunately there wasn't enough time for me to get over the consequences of my actions.

Luckily I'll be retesting in July, and hopefully my gaining unit will be willing to do an early EPR on me so I can get rid of that stigma a little quicker. Either way Jehovah Jireh, and I'm content.

Well, it's one hour until my retest. We'll see how this goes. The PCS and moving ate up more time than I had planned so I'm no where near as ready for this test as I should be.

Either way I'm pretty confident that this whole PT saga is God's discipline in my life for my laziness. I just wish it wouldn't of happened when I was moving across the world!

The test I took last week didn't count because it was sooner than the instructions said I could (I get 42 days to acclimate, which I didn't get so that test was null and void).

I just came from the actual official test and I got a 77 on it! Not quite as good as I was hoping, but it's a passing score!
